Profile
North Park鈥檚 urban campus is part of what drew Associate Professor Sarah Doherty to the History department, along with a well-rounded curriculum and the ability to work one-on-one with students.
For Doherty鈥檚 students, those aspirations involve a variety of careers related to history. 鈥淎 degree in history is a solid foundation for endless career opportunities,鈥 she says. 鈥淭hrough my public history and museum studies training, I have worked at a variety of museums, research libraries, and historical societies, and have professional connections throughout the country. I鈥檓 able to help interested students identify internships and jobs in the cultural sector.鈥
Doherty鈥檚 students receive a lively and engaging classroom experience where there is critical analysis, research, and writing. These skills offer students skills far beyond historical inquiry and are useful in a wide spectrum of possible paths.
