Art at North Park
Specialize in fine arts,听graphic design, or follow a pre-professional track in art therapy. Learn from faculty who are practicing artists to become a strong communicator who considers听new ideas, takes criticism well, completes projects, and works both independently and in groups. The Art department strives to provide the highest standard of artistic development through a range of specialized coursework, ample studio and internship experiences, and exposure to public engagements within the Chicago art scene. You鈥檒l be prepared for a career in many settings, including schools, museums, galleries, nonprofits, hospitals, and advertising and graphic design agencies.
Concentrations
Fine Arts: Gain historical knowledge of art, technical training in different art forms, and the ability to become a thoughtful artist, ready to practice or pursue graduate study.听
Graphic Design:听Become a visual communicator, able to use your creativity and technical skills to carry projects from ideas to reality in a professional environment.听
Art Education (K-12 Licensure with BA in Art):听This pathway within the art major provides the professional training needed to become an artist and educator.
Explore art as a non-major
Non-art majors can explore their creativity through hands-on studio courses or general education classes in drawing and art history. A student-led art club also offers opportunities to collaborate with artists on meaningful community projects.

ART 1030鈥揟wo-Dimensional Design
Introduction and application of the elements of visual language. Studies in shape, color, line, texture, and value as they relate to two-dimensional art.
Scholarships
We offer promising students鈥攁rt majors and non-art majors alike鈥攁 limited number of renewable art scholarships of up to $1,000 annually, awarded after a review of a student鈥檚 portfolio. This scholarship, offered in addition to other scholarships and grants, is renewable for four years.
